Course Completion Requirements and Homework
Each student is required to complete all major course work to get credit for the class. Major projects and research papers must be completed at a satisfactory level in accordance with grade level expectation. Poor workmanship and slothfulness are not acceptable. If an assignment/project is more than five (5) days overdue, then that assignment will be given a 50% grade, BUT MUST BE COMPLETED FOR COURSE CREDIT. Homework must be turned in the day it is due. Late work will not be accepted for daily homework assignments.

Homework Policy
Homework is a vital part of learning and should take an average of 10-15 minutes per class. Homework will not be assigned on Wednesdays to encourage church fellowship. Homework will be part of the class grade. We encourage parents to look over homework, ask questions, and assess progress.  Daily homework will not be accepted after the due date. For students who have been absent, homework and assignments will be available online at ParentsWeb on the Calvary Chapel Junior High School website.

Make-Up Work
Students absent due to illness, valid reasons, or suspension will be allowed to make up all school work. The responsibility for completing make-up assignments rests solely with the student. Generally, one day for each day of absence should be allowed for the completion of make-up work. Work not completed within a five day period will be given a 40%. (Refer to section titled “ATTENDANCE”.)  Students will be penalized 10% for each day an assignment is late with the exception of daily homework.  Daily homework will not be accepted late
.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Students truant from class or school will NOT be allowed to make up the work missed.

Report Cards
The school year is divided into two semesters. Report cards will be mailed to the parents, as listed on the calendar. For student progress, please log on to ParentsWeb. This will provide the most up to date information regarding your student.

Class Credit and Summer School
All classes offered for credit at Calvary Chapel Junior High must be taken during the regular school year. Additional course work and extra classes taken in the summer may be helpful and beneficial to the student academically, but will not count for credit in junior high school. Only students entering ninth grade may take summer school courses for class credit.

Academic Alert/Probation
It is our desire that every student remain at Calvary Chapel Junior High; however, we will not tolerate students who continually fail to apply themselves in the classroom. Students are put on academic alert if their GPA at the semester grading period is under 2.0 or they have a D or F in any one class. Academic probation results when students are under a 2.0 GPA for the semester. The probationary period is evaluated at the end of each semester.
If, at the end of the probationary semester, the student achieves an overall GPA of a 2.0 or above, he will be removed from academic probation. If the probationary student has not elevated his overall GPA to a 2.0 or above by the conclusion of the probationary period, he may be asked to withdraw from school.
EXEMPTION — A student who fails to achieve a 2.0 GPA two semesters in a row may receive an exemption to remain in school if he has shown diligence and faithfulness in his studies, but is lacking in academic prowess.

SASA (Student Accountability, Structure, and Achievement) Class
Although, we realize that students achieve at differing levels, we do have a standard that we ask our students to maintain. We desire our students to succeed academically at CCJH, and we have found that often those that are not successful do not have the necessary habits and practices to accomplish these goals. Therefore, in 7th grade we will meet with the parents to discuss more successful habits and procedures. In 8th grade, those students who have not attained an acceptable level of scholarship, (D or F in any one course) will take the SASA Class instead of their chosen electives. At the end of the semester, if the grades have improved, they will then be able to resume their elective track.
